Congratulations Niall Seymour!

We would like to congratulate our event manager Niall Seymour on winning the regional round of Intel's Ideation Camp in Skibbereen Credit Union on Monday 15th April 2013.

Intel's Ideation Camp is a competition where groups of six people must come with a product to improve cyber saftey and pitch it to a panel of judges. The winner of the national final will go on an all expense paid trip to Intel's headquaters in California. The competition was run by Skibbereen's Lion's Club

Niall's team created "CyberBuddy", a helpful icon in the shape of a piglet that supports you with valuable information when you are being cyberbullied.

Congratulations Niall, we wish you the best of luck in competition!

Live Music Acts Confirmed!

As promised, there will be a number of live music acts playing at our launch event "War of the Buttons"


Our first act is two local Transition Year students who are gaurenteed to  blow you away. Lorraine Crowley and Cormac O' Driscoll will be performing a number songs in our lobby for guests to enjoy while mingling before the film. These two have a big future ahead of them and we are delighted to have them.


Our second act will be a piece played by Sacha Puttnam, professional score writer, composer and pianist. Sacha is also son of Oscar winning producer Lord David Puttnam. As I'm sure you all know, Sacha's father Lord Puttnam is also the producer of "War of the Buttons so we are especially excited to have him in our company.

Tickets for our launch event "War of the Buttons" have officially gone onsale in Thornhills Skibbereen. The tickets cost only €4 and including all food, entertainment and viewing of props. 

This is a very popular event so make sure you don't miss out and buy your tickets while they are still available!

You may also obtain tickets by calling Skibbereen Community and Family Resource Centre on 028 23572.


Congratulations Sophie Perry!

We would like to congratulate our vice treasurer Sophie Perry on getting through to the international rounds of EYP. 

EYP is a debating workshop designed to make solutions to problems that face society today. After successfully compeating in the National Finals, Sophie will go to Instanbul where she will compeat representing Ireland. 

Well Done Sophie! We hope you have a wonderful time.

Our First Event: "War of the Buttons"

For our first event we will be holding a reunion of the iconic film "War of the Buttons" to celebrate 20years since it was made in our local community. 

The event will take place in Skibbereen Town Hall on the 26th of April 2013 at 8pm. 

The event will feature a selection of props, gourmet food by award winning chef Carmel Somers, Live music and a talk from the film's cast and crew who will talk about filming in West Cork.

Tickets to attend this exciting and orginal event can be bought from Thornhills in Skibbereen for €4 each.
